A Nightly Bedtime Ritual to Tap into Goddess Energy

We all need some time to relax and unwind at the end of the day. But why not take it one step further and create a nightly bedtime ritual to tap into goddess energy?

And yes, it involves the moon. It also involves feeling rejuvenated and being connected to your body.

Why? Because moonlit, peaceful radiance is the best bedtime vibe.

Follow our carefully curated guide before bedtime as your nightly ritual to call on your goddess energy.

All genders are welcome here! We simply use “goddess” to identify the love, compassion, and intuition that is naturally within you, regardless of who you are.

Look at the moon.

From your window, or if possible from outside, take in the beauty of the moon (or stars or dark cloudy sky if the moon is hiding). If you’re able to go outside barefoot, stand on the grass to feel grounded. Glancing at the moon on a nightly basis connects you to the ever-changing cycle of the moon.

Change into pajamas that make you feel like the beautiful person you are.

Change out of your day clothes and put on pajamas or nighttime wear that you like. Your pajamas/nighttime wear can be a big, comfy t-shirt, a silk nightie, a fluffy robe, sultry lingerie, flannel pj’s, boxers, or anything you’d like! It doesn’t matter what you wear so long as:

  1. What you wear is routinely used for bedtime or sleeping, as it will help put you in the mood to get ready to sleep.
  2. You feel good in what you wear. “Good” as in meaning whatever makes you feel comfortable, beautiful, natural, or all of the above!

If you usually sleep au naturel, don’t worry–you can simply wear comfy bedtime clothes that you take off before sleeping. Alternatively, why not spend an extra hour or two au naturel before jumping into bed?

Dim the lights and choose lighting that nourishes your spirit.

Create a calming atmosphere with dim lighting. You can choose from a variety of dim lighting options like candles, salt lamps, lava lamps, a fun nightlight, etc. Preferably two hours before you plan to sleep, darken your space to create a calming atmosphere that makes you feel sleepy. Soak in the mood lighting that warms your spirit. If you prefer candles, just make sure to blow them out before drifting to sleep.

Enjoy a warm drink.

Choose a warm drink such as herbal tea, warm milk with nutmeg, or moon milk. Try to avoid sugar or caffeine so it doesn’t interfere with getting quality sleep. If you want to pair it with a nighttime snack, do so! Giving nourishment to your body is important.

Pro tip: don’t wait to drink tea last thing before bed, because you’ll likely wake up at 3am to pee!

Move your body.

Listen to slow-moving music and dance, do yoga, stretch it out, or practice any gentle movements like. Get in the mood by playing music that you like, ideally soft and gentle music good for winding down.

The point of this practice is to connect with your body. Move freely. The challenge is to not follow a guided video. You are the guide, so let your body move freely without judgment.

Decide on any relaxing activity that feels good to you.

Pick a nighttime activity that you’d want to incorporate into your bedtime ritual. Don’t overthink this one; follow your intuition. Whether it’s reading a book, making shadow puppets, journaling, or listening to a guided meditation—whatever makes you happy and relaxed will make this ritual complete!

This nighttime ritual can be done by anyone who wants to reconnect with their inner goddess energy before going to sleep. Try it out and adjust your goddess bedtime ritual however you’d like. Don’t forget how important it is to love yourself and care for yourself, and this guide is another way to do just that!
